BackgroundThere is a visual aspect to many experiences so tapping into that is important. We understand that learners have multiple approaches to learning but one of the important approaches is through visual means. Visual images activate knowledge structures based on previous experience and connected understanding. As a result, the effectiveness of images is determined by the viewers' experiential base. This is a key to creating effective visuals - understanding the viewer's perspective.

"Human brains are structured and programmed to process visual information by proceeding from dominant to secondary to minor elements - from a whole to its details. Information organized to assist this process tends to be rapidly absorbed and well-remembered." (Lahey, 2001, p. 10).
